Pruning methods and precautions for Shine-muscat seedlings in winter

First, pruning time.

Winter pruning of sunny rose seedlings is best done in December each year during the dormant period of the plant. The specific time can be adjusted according to regional climate differences, and attention should be paid to avoid extreme cold and frost weather, so as not to cause unnecessary damage to the seedlings.

Second, pruning objectives.

The main purpose of pruning in winter is to control the shape of the plant. Remove redundant, interlaced, or crowded branches. Ensure the health and beauty of the plant, promote the growth of new branches. Through reasonable pruning, can save the next year's labor cost, improve the cold resistance of the tree and the next year's yield and fruit quality.

Third, nutrient accumulation before pruning.

The rational use of fertilizer before pruning can help the tree accumulate nutrients and promote the next year's flower bud differentiation. Drip irrigation with Monband® PULI-NANO(MBT SUS) 5L/ acre is recommended about 15 days before pruning. Replenish organic matter, humic acid and silicolytic bacteria for tree, promote root growth and consolidate tree nutrition.

Fourth, pruning method.

1. Clean up dry stumps. First of all, you need to clean off the dry piles, stumps, tillering branches and other unnecessary parts of the seedlings to keep the plant clean.

2. Cut off weak branches. Cut off dead, diseased, weak and dull branches, which are often difficult to produce fruit and therefore need to be removed, leaving healthier parts.

3. Trim short ends. For newly planted Shine-muscat seedlings, short tip pruning is recommended. Cut off branches thinner than 0.8 cm and thicker than 1.2 cm, which are difficult to develop high-quality flower buds. Flower buds in the range of 0.8-1.2 cm, under normal leaf, water and fertilizer management, are high-quality flower buds.

At the same time, in order to ensure the next year's high yield, it is necessary to pay attention to the spacing of fruit branches, leaving 1700-2200 fruit branches per mu is appropriate, and can not be too much. The best pruning position is at the base of the branch on a bud, need to leave a small section of protection pile.

Fifth, precautions.

1. The scissors used for trimming should be clean and sharp to avoid infection of the cross section or uneven fracture.

2. Damage will occur after pruning and when the temperature rises the following year. In order to reduce nutrient loss, the cross section should be perpendicular to the branch as far as possible to reduce the cross section area. You can also apply a protective agent to the interface to prevent infection.

3. The cut branches should be cleared out of the park in time. Sweep the broken leaves and branches out of the park. Keep the park clean and tidy to prevent pests and diseases from remaining.
