After the grapes are picked, field management should not be taken lightly. This is the end of this season and the beginning of the next season. Current management is directly related to next year's growth. There are two main management points at this stage: one is to restore the tree vigor, and the other is to accumulate nutrients.
First, nutrient-supplementing fertilizer
After the grapes have finished bearing fruit, the trees are in a state of nutrient deficiency and need to recover in time. For plots with strong trees, normal leaves and light yellowing, the main fertilizer for the month is balanced fertilizer, combined with Monband® MBT PULI-NANO(MBT SUS), It can not only restore the tree vigor, but also avoid the waste of nutrients caused by the vigorous growth of new shoots.
For plots where trees are weak, the lower leaves are yellowing, and there are signs of premature aging, balanced fertilizer plus high nitrogen fertilizer should be used, along with Monband® MBT PULI-NANO(MBT SUS). To quickly restore tree vigor, maintain leaf function, and prevent nutrient accumulation from being affected by insufficient effective leaves.
Second, control the excessive growth of new branches
After the grapes are harvested, the tops of the grapes tend to grow vigorously because there are no fruits competing for nutrients. Pay attention to controlling the growth of the top shoots. You can take pruning measures or spray drugs to control excessive growth.
Third, prune the top branches
After harvesting, the demand for leaves decreases, and the branches can be cut back into the greenhouse to avoid infection with diseases such as downy mildew after being exposed to rain. However, if the tree ages prematurely and the lower leaves turn yellow severely, it is important to note that too few effective leaves after pruning will affect nutrient accumulation. At this time, it is recommended to retain 8-12 functional leaves on each branch. If the number of leaves is insufficient, a few more leaves should be left on the new shoots.
Fourth, lift the film
Grapes prefer strong sunlight. After harvesting grapes in rain-sheltered plots, it is recommended to remove the film from the greenhouse to allow direct sunlight to reach the branches and leaves. This helps accumulate nutrients through photosynthesis and promotes the development of winter buds.
