1. Cut off some branches

When the new shoots grow to 10cm, start cutting off some of the branches. Give priority to retaining the branches with strong bases and regular inflorescences. The distance between branches on one side should be controlled at 15 to 20cm to prevent nutrient dispersion. For weak trees, the number of branches retained should be appropriately reduced. For trees with strong and vigorous growth, you can leave a little more branches, but it is necessary to ensure good ventilation and light penetration.

2. Remove the tips of the newly sprouted branches and arrange the inflorescences

The time to knock out the top of the new bud: One week before flowering, leave 2 to 3 leaves on the vigorous inflorescence. Weaken apical dominance and promote the natural elongation of inflorescences. For weak branches, delay pruning the tips and retain more leaves to enhance photosynthesis. At the same time, remove the whiskers and leaves at the inflorescence to prevent them from suppressing the growth of the inflorescence. For branches with double flower spikes, the vigorous branches should temporarily retain the double flowers to control the growth of the branches. Remove one cluster of weak branches in advance and keep one strong flower to balance the overall growth. When the growth of two flowers is similar, remove the upper flower cluster.

Spray insecticides and fungicides in a timely manner, with a focus on controlling aphids.

4. Precautions

·Temperature and humidity control

During the germination period, maintain the air humidity at around 60% and keep the temperature stable at 15 ℃ at night to 28℃ during the day. If the temperature is too high, the shielding should be opened in time to prevent the inflorescence from being deformed due to high temperature.

·Balanced fertilization and water management

Apply balanced water-soluble fertilizer and calcium fertilizer as top dressing to promote flower bud differentiation and inflorescence development. It is recommended to first use Monband ® KaDing ® (20-20-20) after cutting off the top sprouts. If the inflorescence is weak, or if the inflorescence is yellowish in color and the tip is dry, Monband ® XiGu ® can be added. After 5 days, apply Monband ® KaMei ® alone. Promote the uniform germination and vigorous inflorescences of Sunburst roses, laying a foundation for subsequent fruit retention and quality improvement.
