Cultivation and management of young betel nut

To ensure the survival rate of betel nut saplings, some growers choose to cultivate young betel nut trees in their own yards or fields. This facilitates higher productivity and scientific management.

So what do you need to keep in mind when managing young betel nut trees?

1. Water regulation

Betel nut is a shallow rooted crop and is sensitive to moisture. Both waterlogged and drought conditions are not suitable for betel nut. Therefore, we need to have fine control over betel nut moisture. For young betel nut trees, it is best to keep the soil moisture content at 55% to 65%.

2. Soil management

When betel nut enters the seedling stage, remove weeds from between the plants, dig up rows of small shrubs, and retain some of the sod. This will avoid constraining betel nut growth by over-exposing the ground.

Weeding should be combined with soil cultivation to bury the root system exposed on the soil surface. Under suitable environmental conditions, the stem of betel nut can sprout a large number of adventitious roots. At this time, regular soil cultivation can not only protect the old roots exposed due to rainfall, but also help to promote the sprouting of new roots. This is conducive to improving the betel nut's ability to absorb water and fertilizer, and enter the production period earlier.

After weeding, the weeds should be mulched at the base of the betel nut stalks. This reduces water evaporation and maintains soil moisture.

3. Reasonable fertilizer application

Proper fertilization plays an important role in promoting betel growth and early flowering and fruiting. MBT -PULI-KE (1.5 kg/plant) is recommended. It can provide organic matter and replenish the crop with the required elemental nutrients. It also improves soil structure and saves labor and time.

The root system determines the life, health, quality, and yield of the crop. Most crop problems are actually root problems. Problems such as crop weakness, vigorous growth, yellow leaves, flower and fruit drop are all related to the root system. Therefore, the use of rooting products is essential.MBT-PULI-NANO (3 kg/mu), facilitates the maintenance of the root system and replenishes the soil organic matter. It promotes the absorption and utilization of nutrients by the tree and promotes the growth and development of betel nut seedlings.
